Fredericksburg to Alexandria, VA. 82.5 miles

Weds. May 20th. Whoa what a challenging day. Not only was it a long day we had more hills, strong wind gusts from seemingly every direction , a few quiet country roads but mostly no shoulder 4 and 6 lane suburban sprawl roads with relentless fast traffic.  All in all a white knuckle day. But a few sweet moments. Lunch in the old cotton/wheat river port town of Occoquan, a relatively quiet ride through Fort Belvoir ,the dogwood filled bike path from Mount Vernon to Alexandria.
    Lunch in Occoquan
   Crossing the Occoquan River

Stopped ( only at the entrance) of Mt. Vernon
  Entering old town Alexandria at
   the end of the day
And topping the day off at a Japanese restaurant
