Highland, NY to Lakeville, CT. 46.2 miles

Crossed over the Hudson River Walkway again to go through Poughkeepsie and then out into the hills.  Big old farms, rain on and off and then a front came through and the temperature dropped at least 15 degrees. Eight miles of another trail, the Harlem Valley Rail Trail; wide , paved and quiet. Thank you Barbara and Betsey for the delicious cookies!
  Rowing race taken from Walkway
   Treacherous road, beautiful scenery
Lunch at the Oakhurst Diner in Millerton, NY where one

Matamoras, PA to Highland, NY. Sat. 5/30. 59.5 miles

Weak internet last night so here's a catch up post. Officially crossed into New York State today. Beautiful rural ride, bearable hils and speaking of bears- two sightings by two women on the tour. A cub yesterday climbing a tree and today an adult ambling across the road. Sailed along for about 14 miles with a healthy tailwind and lunched in New Paltz.  Finished our day on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail and followed it beyond our hotel to a spectacular pedestrian bridge called the Walkway Over the Hudson. Amazing views and cooling winds.
   It's official ....New York

Easton to Matamoras, PA 78.2 miles

A long and hilly, hillier, hilliest day of riding today- long hills, short hills, bumpy hills, endless hills....well you get the idea.  We crossed the  Delaware River 4 times today and even spent about 3 miles in New York.  Although challenging, it was a lovely day, the river views, many tree canopied roads , vistas of the Deleware WaterGap and the best homemade Greek food in a tiny cafe in Layton, New Jersey (freshly made warm rice pudding-oh yes!)

New Hope to Easton, PA. 39.9 miles

Eaśy breezy and hot day today along the New Jersey side of the Delaware River. Narrow smooth roads that seemed liked bike paths- it was a surprise to see a car come along. Ended the day in the quaint town of Easton, home of Crayola Crayons and had enough leisure time for a sit down lunch and a stroll around town. My phone did not charge last night so all of my photos today I credit to my friends; Katie, Kathy Q, Mary D, Canada, Patricia and Marilyn.
Yesterday's snapping turtle was saved by a brave man
who moved him out of the road and into the grass
   Old lime kilns perhaps
And Jeffrey Fouse, who is this mystery man?

Phoenixville to New Hope, PA 49.7 miles

AND an unofficial border crossing into New Jersey! Warm and humid start but cloud cover saved us for most of the ride. Our first 12 miles was on the paved, wide and lovely Schuylkill River Trail. An unusually large  number of turns today so we really had to be alert. Kathy Q and I had the inaugural  distinction of being the first to the sag stop. Well it turned out we were the first and the only because everyone else took a wrong turn and missed the sag. Needless to say I am sticking with Q from now on- she knows her directions! Beautiful narrow , mostly quiet roads today, not rural but county homes and wooded estates- and of course hills.  When we reached the hotel at 1:30 we heard that if went  into New Hope and crossed the bridge over the Delaware River, we would be in New Jersey so that's what we did- a mighty fine day all in all.
